Executive Board Regional Committee

The Regional Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean (MOWLAC) is composed of nine members who have been chosen with particular regard to their personal merits and their specific experiences in the field of library and archival preservation. However, the selection process is accomplished through consultations with the UNESCO National Commissions in each member country. Although the Committee is limited to nine members, each of its members is responsible for promoting the objectives of the MOW program and the creation of National Committees in other countries of the region, according to the division of labor agreed by MOWLAC.

New Executive Board Regional Committee
UNESCO MOWLAC 2016-2017

During the 16th Meeting of the Regional Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean, UNESCO Memory of the World Programme which was held in Quito, Ecuador from October 21th – 23th, 2015 a new Executive Board of the UNESCO MOWLAC for the period 2016-2017 was elected. The Regional Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean (MOWLAC) is composed of nine members from the Latin-American and Caribbean region.

The new Executive Board 2016-2017 consists of the following persons:

 

Rita Tjien Fooh- Hardjomohamad (Suriname- President)

– Carlos Augusto Silva Ditadi (Brazil- Vicepresident)

– Alfonso Blijden ( St.Maarten- Vicepresident)

– Alfredo Boccia ( Paraguay- Rapporteur)

– Carlos Henriquez Consalvi ( El Salvador – Member)

– Yolia Tortolero (Mexico – Member)

– Luiz Oporto (Bolivia – Member)

– Gabriel Saldivia (Venezuela – Member)

– Christopher Varlarck (British Virgin Islands – Member)

Mr. Guilherme Canela Godoi from the Regional UNESCO office in Uruguay currently holds the position of the secretary of the regional committee of UNESCO MOWLAC.

The Executive Board of MOWLAC also has three advisors who are specialized in the field of library and archival preservation. These are:
– Elizabeth Watson (Barbados )
– Rosa Maria Fernandez de Zamora (Mexico)
– Lourdes Arroyo Blanco (Venezuela).

The MOWLAC members were selected based on their personal merits and their specific experiences in the field of library and archival preservation in close consultation with the UNESCO National Commission in the member countries. They are responsible for promoting the objectives of the MOW program and the creation of National Committees in other countries of the region, according to the division of labor agreed by MOWLAC.
