MoWLAC Regional Committee Announces the Incorporation of 17 New Heritage Documents into the Memory of the World Register

The Regional Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean of UNESCO Memory of the World (MoWLAC) programme has included 17 new heritage documents in its regional register during its XXII Ordinary Meeting, which took place in Aruba from 15 to 18 November.

The following is the list of the documents which, by decision of the MoWLAC Regional Committee, are to be included in the UNESCO Memory of the World for Latin America and the Caribbean set of heritage documents.

Argentina

· “Passengers’ Entry Books, by Sea” of the “National Registry of Migrations” documentary fund. General Archive of the Nation and from the Department of Intermediate Archives, Argentina

· Heritage corpus on the migratory networks of Yiddish language and its cultural production in South America. IWO Foundation, Argentina

· First printed documents of the River Plate. Vocabulary of the Guarani language, printed in the Santa María La Mayor Jesuit-Guarani mission in 1722. Mariano Moreno National Library, Argentina

· Information Section – North Argentine Sea Area of the Intelligence Service of the Prefecture. Provincial Commission for Memory, Argentina

Bolivia

The Memory of the World programme is an international initiative promoted and coordinated by UNESCO since 1992, in order to ensure the preservation and access to the documentary and digital heritage of greatest relevance to the peoples of the world.
