Samuel DuBois, translator of the Regional Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean of the UNESCO Memory of the World Program, since 2001.

He permanently accompanied the Committee in sessions, activities and events of each of the annual meetings, translating interventions with precision from English to Spanish and vice versa. His extensive cultural knowledge of heritage and historical memory were factors that contributed to the interpretation and translation; he was a member of the Charles Darwin Foundation in the Galapagos Islands – Ecuador, as well as a translator for publishers such as the Caspicara Foundation, Latin American Future Foundation, International Rivers Network, among others.

His particular style of translating, endowed with a wide vocabulary, contributed to a better understanding and dialogue between interlocutors. We deeply appreciate his professionalism and human warmth.

On behalf of the Regional Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean, we express our deep sorrow to his family and friends.
